Episcleritis
Episcleritis is the inflammation of the episclera, a thin layer covering the white part of the eye. It is usually benign and self-limiting, presenting as a red or reddish-pink patch on the eye. Symptoms may include mild discomfort or irritation. Episcleritis often resolves without treatment, but in cases of significant discomfort, anti-inflammatory medications or topical corticosteroids may be prescribed to accelerate recovery and provide comfort.
